1. Using a website (try rentit.ca or kijiji.ca) find 3 apartments that you would consider renting if you were in that position right now.a) what is the general location?b) give a general description of the apartment, including price, number of rooms and some details on it's featuresc) if you can, find some information on the amenities around the location of each apartment (groceries, stores, entertainment etc)
2. Many areas of large cities have neighbourhood names. In Ottawa, one of the nicest neighbourhoods is called "The Glebe". For ONE of your apartments, try and find out what neighbourhood it is in, and give a general description of what it is like (stores, shops, house prices, nearby parks etc…ANYTHING). If your apartment choices are not in a large city, do the same for the town or small city. This should be long enough to give me an idea of what it might be like there for you. YOU decide how long that is. What if you can't find out what the neighbourhood is? Just find out what it is like as best you can!How else can you find out what the neighbourhood is like? Try these….-what stores are in the area?-what schools are there?-Google Street View-House Prices-comments on the internet-rental prices (there may be a reason why that nice apartment is so cheap!)
3. Now it's time to write a contact email (you don't need to send it!) to the person/business renting ONE of your apartment choices. Write an email that states you'd like to come and see the apartment for yourself AND describes a few of the reason why you'd be a good tenant. You will also want to ask any pertinent questions that were not addressed in the ad for the apartment.
4. Last part, promise! Prepare a one minute presentation on your top chosen apartment. Explain;-why you chose it-it's best features-any drawbacks-whether you think it's likely you'd get the apartment if you tried to (and why or why not).
